Learning Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of Public Law 101-336, The Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA).
- To encourage leisure services providers to consider the impact of the way in
which they deliver their services to people with disabilities.
- To review the rationale for leisure education for all people, including
those with disabilities.
- To encourage professionals to promote access and thereby create opportunities for
people with disabilities to engage in community leisure pursuits.
- To learning strategies to help encourage integration.
- Awareness of adaptations and to encourage current and future practitioners to
adapt the information presented in their programs as necessary.
- To provide suggestions on how to be an effective advocate for services.
