        Learning Objectives:

• Understanding of the development of attitudes toward people with disabilities.
• Understanding methods that can influence attitudes and cultivate a sense of professional competence.
• Understanding ways to think about and treat people with disabilities with the intention of setting the stage for beneficial contact and the development of positive attitudes.
• Understanding sensitive terminology that communicates positive attitudes toward people with disabilities.
• Understanding of how stronger support systems must be developed to facilitate community-based leisure participation for persons with disabilities and their families.
• Understanding barriers encountered by people with disabilities and the role we may play in these problems.
