Learning Objectives:
- Understanding of the development of attitudes toward people with disabilities.
- Understanding methods that can influence attitudes and cultivate a sense of
professional competence.
- Understanding ways to think about and treat people with disabilities with the
intention of setting the stage for beneficial contact and the development of positive
attitudes.
- Understanding sensitive terminology that communicates positive attitudes toward
people with disabilities.
- Understanding of how stronger support systems must be developed to facilitate
community-based leisure participation for persons with disabilities and their families.
- Understanding barriers encountered by people with disabilities and the role we may
play in these problems.
