Activity Assistant Job Description

Camp Goals
This job description should include specific responsibilities that reflect the goals of the camp and the goals of camper development. 

General Responsibility
To assist in teaching and coordinating a skill or activity, maintaining standards that lead to a quality program.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Work with activity head during staff training to set up area and program for campers.
  2. Assist in coordinating specialization with other camp activities and plans.
  3. Write lesson plans, with help of activity head, for each program session.
  4. Participate in weekly program evaluations conducted by staff within the specific activity .
  5. Conduct daily check of program area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair .
  6. Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, with approval of activity head, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
  7. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
  8. Keep records on participant's progress; help them progress from beginner to advanced levels.
  9. Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory , storing, and keeping equipment in good condition.
  10. Assist in packing all materials and supplies when season ends.
  11. Evaluate current season and make recommendations for equipment, supplies, and program for following season.
  12. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
