Course Description:   This course promotes student participation and involvement in professional development by attending professional conferences and/or workshops

Course Objectives: competencies.
bulletUnderstanding of the technological, economic, and political significance of play, recreation and leisure in contemporary society (NRPA 8.03)
bulletUnderstanding of contemporary professional issues and how they impact the delivery of leisure services (NRPA 8.07)
bulletUnderstanding of the concept of a profession and professional organization as related to leisure services (NRPA 8.08)
bulletUnderstanding of the importance of and resources for professional development (NRPA 8. 1 0)

Course Structure: Web-based course with outside professional organizations' assignments.

Required Texts: none

Grading Basis: A pass/fail grade will be used in this course. A passing grade will be earned for successfully completing the course requirements.

Course Requirements: Students must register and attend an approved professional conference or workshop. They must attend sessions for at least one entire day or the entire conference. Students must turn in to the course facilitator an e-mail with the following information:

bulleta registration receipt;
bulletconference schedule and ;
bulleta written report including each session title; speakers' names, session review and evaluation.
