Outdoor Education & Leadership Emphasis |

The Outdoor Education and Leadership emphasis trains students to work as leaders, guides and educators in outdoor environments. The emphasis focuses on experiential learning and includes field-based activities to develop technical and interpersonal skills. Students who select this emphasis find employment with organizations such as National Outdoor Leadership School, Outward Bound, public and private guiding services, outdoor and environmental education centers, camps, community and university outdoor programs.

We strongly recommend that students obtain Wilderness
First Responder Note: A National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) “Outdoor Educator Course” (equivalent to 6 credits) or “Instructors Course” will meet the requirements for PRM 331 and PRM 352. A NOLS “Outdoor Educator Semester” course will meet the requirements for the Outdoor Education & Leadership Emphasis with the addition of electives equal to 21 credit hours. |
