Parade Script – Entry line-up
1. Sedona Fire District
The Sedona Fire District recently purchased a new 100ft. Supthen Ladder platform truck. This vehicle can and will be utilized for a variety of rescue and fire fighting activities. In addition, the fire marshal recently took delivery on a new SUV support vehicle.

2. Irish Pipes of Sedona
The Irish Pipes of Sedona is our hometown band and has participated in this parade last 5 years. Band manager Joe Tulley is always seeking new members, men or women, boys or girls. All that’s needed is the desire to play drums or pipes and the need to entertain.
3. Grand Marshal
J. J. “Jim” Thompson left Londonderry, Ireland at the age of eleven, seeking freedom in Texas and Mexico. In 1861 he joined the Confederate Army and spent most of the war in a prison camp in Illinois and a hospital in Georgia. After forays into freighting and mule skinning for the United States Army, J.J. became the first Anglo settler in Oak Creek Canyon. He claimed a homestead in 1876 at what is now known as “Indian Gardens”. He invited his friends Abraham and Elizabeth James and their family to move here, making him Sedona’s first real estate agent. 38 year old Jim then married the James’s 16 year old daughter, Margaret, with whom he would have nine children.
4. Camp Verde Calvary
The Camp Verde Calvary has enjoyed being the color guard for the Sedona Parade for many years. This group was organized in 1958 and continues to thrill crowds wherever they ride. This year the Colonel is Joe Butner.

5. Mayors Pud Colquitt & Doug Von Gausig
Mayor Pud Colquitt was first directly elected Mayor for the city of Sedona and was elected in 2006. Prior to her election, she was elected by the City Council to serve as Mayor in 2004. She enjoys spending time with Quinn, her horse.

Sheriff Bill Pribil proudly represents the men and women of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office who serve the citizens of the second largest county in the U.S. The sheriff’s office is comprised of a patrol division, detention facility, detective division, search and rescue, a mounted unit, a K-9 unit, a lake patrol division and an underwater rescue unit.

12. Louise Yellowman
Louise Yellowman has served on the District 5 Coconino County Board of Supervisors for 27 years today. She was the first Native American to sit on the County Board of Supervisors, and has seen many improvements in the county. She is an advocate for women attaining professional excellence and leadership skills.

The Arizona Rangers have just celebrated 50 years of service this past year to the state of Arizona. These local Verde Valley Rangers have been serving our community since 2003 and have the honor of having the first certified Mounted Unit with the Arizona Rangers in the state. They are an all volunteer organization whose mission is community service, supporting the youth in their community, preserving the traditions of the old west and providing assistance to our local law enforcement agencies

This entry has won 1st Place awards in Phoenix Veteran’s Day parade (2006-2007) and in Prescott Veteran’s Day parade (2007) and has even appeared in the 4th of July parade in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2008 he’s scheduled for 3 parades in Colorado and 10 in Arizona, and The American Legion National Convention Parade. “Have Flags----Will Travel”!

15. Sedona Car Club
The Sedona Car Club was founded in 1982 and presently has a membership of 65 families. The purpose of the club is to further the use and enjoyment of antique, classic and special-interest automobiles.
16. Wilcox Family Stores
Coming now is Wilma Wilcox, founder of the family businesses of Wilcox Stores in Uptown since 1980. She has served in the recent past as President of Sedona Main Street Program and currently serves on the Board of Sedona Chamber of Commerce. Together the Wilcox Family of Stores has been proud to join with the community as sponsors of this and past St. Patrick’s Day Parades as well as Hands through History events which honor western actors in movies filmed in Sedona. They are also sponsors for an upcoming Parade on this very Jordan Road on Saturday, July 26 as part of the 2nd Annual Uptown Celebration of the Nation Day of the American Cowboy. That event will host activities Uptown including a Cowboy Gunfight & skits, trick roping and live music performances.
17. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office
Here comes the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Do-Right. Deputy Do-Right is the mascot for Sheriff Waugh’s “Right by Kids” child safety program. The program is designed to provide kids with important safety messages about drugs, bullying, and personal safety. Thank you YCSO!
18. Sedona Police Department
The Sedona Police Mounted Unit began approximately seven years ago. The unit is used for community policing and crowd control at large events. Officer Rena Dearden is riding T-Bone and Officer Jim Pott is riding Nugget. They are accompanied by two of the Sedona Police Explorers.
19. Church of the Red Rocks God’s Clod Squad
God’s Clod Squad is a clown ministry from the Church of the Red Rocks here in Sedona. They believe in the healing power from a smile and perform at many care centers in the Verde Valley. They’re keen on “Goin’ Green!”
20. Pink Jeep Tours
Pink Jeep Tours, the original Jeep tour company in the country has been providing the most talked about off road adventures in the southwest for almost 50 years. Riding in the pink jeeps today are the Girl Scouts youngest members, the Daisy Girls Troop, who are 5 and 6 years old.
21. Sedona Girl Scouts
Next up are your Sedona Girl Scouts. Sedona Girl Scouts are over 100 girls strong. Girl Scouts are about courage, confidence, and character. We earn badges, go camping, do community service and of course sell cookies! Girl Scouts are where girls grow strong!
22. Sedona Fudge Company, Inc.
Presenting the sweetest gals and guys in town: Chocolatiers for the past 25 years at Sedona Fudge Company, specializing in the famous Mackinac Island fudge, motoring their 1940 “Fudgemobile”.
23. Marine Corps League, San Francisco Peak Detachment
Marine Corps League, San Francisco Peak Detachment #912. They are very active in Toys for Tots and the Wounded Marine Program.
24. Oak Creek Brewing Company
Oak Creek Brewing Company just celebrated their 13th anniversary. They’re located in West Sedona off of Yavapai Drive and invite you to their post-parade party which starts at 3pm. They’ll be serv-ing corned beef & cabbage and will have a fresh new seasonal beer on tap: Belgian Stout. Also, Oak Creek Brewing Company will celebrate St. Paddy’s Day on Monday with Yen Yang & Zen Some.
25. Mago Retreat Center and Dahn Yoga Center
The DahnMudo self empowerment Martial Arts group will perform accompanied by the Korean power drummers, who will ride in the Sedona Mago Retreat Center mini-bus. The Mini-bus offers 6 days a week of free vortex tours to Mago Retreat Center.
26. Verde Valley Cyclist Coalition (a shorter version script below if needed)
The Verde Valley Cyclist Coalition is the area’s bike riding club! The Verde Valley Cyclist Coalition has been working hard for cyclists’ rights both on and off road for almost 5 years, and is happy to report that there will be bike lanes on Hwy. 179 all the way to the Village of Oak Creek. The City and ADOT have also promised us there will be bike lanes on 89A through West Sedona in just a couple of years! We are doing lots to ensure Sedona will become a bicycle friendly community. The Red Rockin’ Grannies have been marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade since 1990. Their motto should be “you’re never too old.” Speaking of old – (hesitate) – on second thought, we won’t go there, However, one of the grannies will be turning 91 in April, how about that! She’s the one with the silver hair. The Grannies are so grateful for the enthusiasm of the spectators. They thank each and every one of you.

42. Flagstaff Kennel Club-K9 Drill Team
Dogs and their humans on the Flagstaff Kennel Club K-9 Drill Team spend quality time together serving others. In addition to marching in parades, they entertain and educate in circle routines in nursing homes, schools and civic groups. Many visit patients in hospitals and nursing homes. Several participate in the PAWS to read program in schools and libraries to help children improve their reading.

47. Desert Irish Wolfhound Association
The Desert Irish Wolfhound Association began when a group of Irish Wolfhound owners in Arizona got together to share information about the breed in an effort to improve the health and welfare of Irish Wolfhounds. Their dogs and members participate in rescues, educational events, festivals and parade and community events to foster interest and increase knowledge about this wonderful ancient breed. The Irish Wolfhound dates back to the 17th century and is the tallest dog breed recognized by the AKC.
48. The Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus have been marching in the Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade for more than a decade. The Knights are the single largest contributor to the Special Olympics and give thousands of hours of volunteer time to their community. The Knights are nearly 2 million strong found throughout the Western Hemisphere.
49. Sedona Red Rock High School Thespian Club
Sedona Red Rock High School Thespian Club presents Little Shop of Horrors, a musical production. Show dates and times are April 10th, 11th, 12th, at 7:00pm and April 13th at 2:00pm. General Admission is $9.00 and tickets are available at all Sedona-Oak Creek School Offices. The Audrey II (puppet) as seen on Broadway will appear exclusively on the Red Rock Theatre stage! Also, for the first time, there will be live music.

53. Sedona Roadrunner Transit
Sedona Roadrunner, Currently in the second year of operation is busy providing FREE fixed route circulator service to visitors and residents along the business corridor between Uptown and Gallery row. The hours of operation are from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm with a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes 7 days a week. We encourage your customers to park once and “leave the running to us.” Another valuable service offered is the “Roadrunner Cottonwood Express.” With 2 morning departures from Cottonwood to Sedona and return services in the afternoon, we hope to encourage employees to leave their cars at home and to get them where they need to go. 54. Garbage Can Band
The Garage Can Band, under the direction of Laura Dunbar, is happy to be in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade another year. The group has 12 members in grades 5-8. In February they were performing for the second time in the group’s history in Disneyland. Thank you for supporting the Sedona Arts program.
55. Kirkpatrick for Arizona
Ann Kirkpatrick is running for Congressional District one. She is a life long resident and former state representative of district one. She has the roots, respect and sense of responsibility to effectively represent the people of district one.
56. Sedona Airport
The aliens have landed. Sedona welcomes alien Josh to the parade. Sedona Airport wishes everyone a merry St. Pat’s Day!
57. Cosmic Costumes
Tucked away in a West Sedona neighborhood is a tiny building containing hundreds of shiny, glitzy costumes. There are character, period and dance costumes for adults and children. Pat Henshaw has traveled to Egypt and Morocco and bought ladies dresses and yards of luscious materials. Coming from a theatrical background, she has done stage sets, as well as performing since age 3. She has a special interest in ancient Egypt and she is endlessly creating. She is now the proud owner of Cosmic Costumes - rentals and sales and designs by appointment.
58. Brent Maupin for Congress
Brent Maupin is running for Rick Renzi’s vacated seat for the United States Congress. He is running as an Independent candidate who has no party affiliation and only the best interest of the American people and Northern Arizona at heart. He believes that our country is in dire need of massive reform in our legislative process, thus him taking on this task. For those of you who know him, you know that taking on such a task is right up his alley. For those of you who don’t, please introduce yourself to him. He would like to hear from you.

It is used to clean lines to prevent blockages and it allows quicker response to plugged lines or spills, so that impacts on our citizens and the environment are minimized. Please do your part to keep Sedona’s sewage flowing! Don’t flush large items down the toilet and don’t flush grease down the drain.

Did you know that recycling one aluminum can creates enough energy to power a television for three hours? That that's impressive? Consider this: Just last year Waste Management recycled more than 30 thousand tons of aluminum. That would keep your TV going for nearly 6 billion hours. Oh, and while you're watching, look for Waste Management's television commercials to learn more about our other recycling success stories. Think Green Sedona. Think Waste Management.
