1. Sedona Fire Department
LONG: Sparky and Sedona Fire Department’s latest recruit, yet to be named, is leading off in a new Polaris Ranger 4 wheel drive utility vehicle to be used for parades, rescues, and off road assignments followed by a 2001 KME Panther Fire Engine. Sedona Fire Department will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary on April 7th, 2007.

2. Irish Pipes of Sedona
2 years ago the Irish Pipes of Sedona took 1st place for the Best Marching Unit. Today the band is slightly smaller but the Pipes and Drums are still good. It wouldn’t be an Irish Parade without them.

3. Grand Marshal’s
LONG: Co-Grand Marshal’s Marion Herrman and Lew Hoyt. Lew Hoyt is the 2007 Sedona Citizen of the Year, Riding with Mr. Hoyt is his lovely wife Nancy. During 2007, Lew was Chairman of the very successful Miracle at Seven Canyons Charity Event, which raised over $741,000 for Sedona Charities. This amount is the most money ever raised in Northern Arizona for local charities.
Lew Hoyt is a graduate of the University of Southern California. As an athlete he was a former National Collegiate High Jump Champion and was an alternate member of the1964 and 1968 USA Olympic Teams. He was also a fighter pilot and officer in both the United States Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. Lew also flew combat in Vietnam and was a flight instructor in the world famous Navy TopGun Squadron.
Coming from San Diego 4 years ago, Lew and Nancy have chosen Sedona as their retirement home.
Marion Herrman was the 2005 Sedona Citizen of the Year. Marion has been a resident for more than 25 years. In her time in Sedona she has done some amazing things and made phenomenal contribu-tions to this community. Marion was first recognized for her service in 2002 when she received the Philanthropists of the Year Award. Marion has also worked with over a dozen local & state-affiliated charities. Marion’s early life was spent in the limelight while a performer and jazz singer as a New York night club, as well as sculpting. Marion has also served on the Board of Directors for the Per-forming Arts of Sedona Cultural Park and Arizonans for Cultural Development. She’s also involved in giving out scholarships each year to outstanding students at Sedona Red Rock High School.

The Camp Verde Calvary is one of the oldest and most respected riding groups in Arizona. With their spirited horses and authentic McLellan saddles they have ridden in parades throughout Arizona. The Camp Verde Calvary rides with pride wherever they ride. This year’s colonel is Joe Butner.

12. Traditional Blend Band
LONG: SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1Traditional Blend first heard the Irish music of the Chieftains in 1978 and then heard Cape Breton fiddle music in 1980. They’ve pursued the rich world of Celtic music fervently ever since. Bill and Patti Cummings have been performing the music in Northern Arizona since the early 1980s. They enjoy traveling in their spare time to perform in festivals and other music events. They have just released their first CD entitled “Traditional Blend - Bill and Patti Cummings” which includes Celtic, National Treasury Music from rural parts of America, and song ballads. They are extremely happy to be here with us today to share their traditional, well seasoned, and unique sounds.

LONG: Presented by the Sedona Historical Society and Sedona Heritage Museum, on Oak Creek Canyon’s first fire truck rides Jim Thompson- Sedona’s first Anglo Settler!
Jim Thompson immigrated from Londonerry, Ireland when he was just a boy. He worked his way across the county. Oak Creek Canyon’s pioneer history begins when he arrived in the canyon in 1876 and took over an abandoned Indian Garden. He stayed and enticed others to move here.
We ask you: Was Jim Thompson Oak Creek Canyon’s first Irishman? Is this myth or fact? Jim invites you to the Sedona Heritage Museum after the parade to find out.

LONG: Here’s one of three vehicles from the Sedona Community Center that serves your city with staff and volunteers. The meals on wheels program serves 20,000 meals a year, yes, I said 20,000 meals! This program is supported by grants such as NACOG and United Way, individual donations, generous contributions from local restaurants, and our very own “Grasshopper Flats Grill”. Dedicated volunteers deliver these nourishing meals to the elderly and homebound. WE ALWAYS NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS!
The Sedona Community Center is located on Melody Lane, in West Sedona, Behind Casa Rincon. Come and meet our wonderful staff and volunteers. The center offers over 20 different classes and events.

Cappuccino a Sicilian miniature Jack makes up for his size with his blooming voice. Both donkeys are 11 years old. They fell in love at first sight 9 years ago but there are no little coffee’s in their future. Their ancestors hail from Sicily Italy and Mexico just like their owners! They spend most of their days playing but are willing to work whenever they get to show off.
