The name of the theme was created by parade’s steering committee, also known as “The Green Team”. NAU students from the Special Event Planning Class are carrying this banner and the next one.

Please help me welcome our Grand Marshal, Shirley Osborn! Ms. Osborn is the 2002 Sedona Red Rock news Citizen of the year based on her continuous community service. She pioneered teaching English as a Second Language in Sedona and continues that work today. Alastair Killen and Allen Magorrian (Dignitary)
The Mayor Dick Ellis and the city of Sedona want to extend a warm welcome to Alastair Killen and Allen Magorrian From Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland – where St. Patrick established his first church in Ireland at Saul and where he is buried. Alastair is a retired public central government official. His primary hobby is golf – he’s Captain of his golf club and has played competitively. Allen is a retired Psychiatric Nurse who enjoys travel and golf. We’re honored that they are visiting Sedona to sight see, play golf and join our parade.

Ms. Senior AZ, Bobbi Leahy (Dignitary)
Please welcome Ms Senior AZ Bobbi Leahy. Bobbi has been a resident of Sedona for the past 18 years. She competed against 20 other contestants from around Arizona
Ms Senior AZ will act as a Good Will Ambassador by visiting retirement homes and Senior Centers inspiring the seniors to keep as physically and mentally active as possible. She will also be entertaining them along with her Sedona Performing Troups, The grannies on the Rocks with their Sugar Daddies.

Al Herman (Dignitary)
Al Herman has been involved with the Sedona St. Patrick’s parade since 1983. In that time, he has served on Committees and as Chairperson. He has been Grand Marshal and continues to sponsor the parade. He is a special dignitary and we are honored to have him with us today. Along with his wife Marion, Kathy Moore, Assistant Principle, at West Sedona Elementary School drives them; Her daughter Mackenzie joins Kathy.

Arizona Highlanders
The Arizona Highlanders, along with the Northern Arizona Wish Foundation, and The Celtic Heritage Society, have promoted Celtic Culture and performed Celtic music in Northern Arizona for 6 years. The band members range in age from 12 to over 60. The dancers are from the McTeggart School of Irish Dance. The flags represent the 6 Celtic nations of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Cornwall, Manx, and Galicia.

Toastmasters of Sedona
Toastmasters of Sedona is part of Toastmasters International, a sixty-year-old organization dedicated to the improvement of a person’s public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters of Sedona meet every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. in the building on Brewer Road. Keep Sedona Beautiful.

Sedona Car Club
The Sedona Car Club is now in its 21st year and boasts a membership of 69 families. The club’s purpose is to promote, preserve and maintain vehicles of special interest or historical value. The members enjoy monthly meetings, outings, tours, and annual car show.

Sedona Red Rockin’ Grannies
Sedona’s “original” Red Rockin’ Grannies – sponsored by the Adult Community Center of Sedona. These Grannies have been kicking up their heels around the Verde Valley for 14 years and have been a participant in the St. Patrick’s Day parade for almost as long. The Grannies range in age from 58 to 86 years old. This year’s parade number was choreographed by two of the members –Barb Roberts and Joyce Stratford. You are invited to see the Grannies perform at Verde Valley School on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 pm. The program is free and open to the public.
Adult Community Center
The Adult Community Center of Sedona, providers of Meals on Wheels, Community lunch, Telecare and other services for seniors in the Sedona and Village of Oak Creek is celebrating their 20th anniversary! For the second year in a row ACCS is raffling a beautiful vintage Corvette. Purchases raffles ticket for this years beautiful 1960 classic corvette and help support Meals on Wheels. Tickets are 10 dollars for a book of 15. The car will be raffled on July 4th. Tickets may be purchased with flyers that are being passed immediately following the parade this morning. The Adult Community Center is located on Melody Land behind the Sedona Car Wash in West Sedona.

Greyhound Adoption League
This is the Arizona chapter of Greyhounds of America; a
nonprofit
organization set up to rescue retired racing greyhounds, an ancient and
noble breed. They raise funds through education, garage sales and other
events to pay for the necessary neutering, spaying, inoculations, and to
repair any broken bones or other wounds. They are in need of volunteers
to foster dogs off the track, staff information tables at local events,
collect aluminum cans and garage sale items, print flyers, and many other
duties to save the greyhounds from early death. They are ardent
defenders of this gentle breed of couch potatoes, and urge anyone with a
desire to own a loving and faithful companion to consider adopting a
greyhound.

The boys and girls club of Northern Arizona is enjoying a ride with A Day in the West and is one of the beneficiaries of the 3rd annual Great Northern Arizona Rubber Duck Race. A Day in the West (second entry)
A day in the West offers Jeep tours, horseback rides and cowboy cookouts at the Bradshaw Ranch. They have been enchanting cowboys, movie stars, and city slickers alike, for over 100 years. Even the KING of Rock and Roll himself, ELVIS PRESLEY, graced the ranch with his presence. The Bradshaw family began doing tours here in Sedona in 1940. A Day in the West has the most experienced and knowledgeable guides in Arizona, with local insights into the geology, plants and animals, and the history of this city. Sedona Concert Band
Under the direction of John Fifield, the Sedona concert Band is in its 26th year of musical performances throughout the Verde Valley. The all-volunteer group is comprised of musicians from all over the Verde Valley ranging in age from teens to octogenarians. The band is dedicated to promoting instrumental music programs and appreciation in our local schools. The Flagstaff Kennel Clubs first parade was the 1993 Sedona St. Patrick Parade. They have marched in each Saint Patrick parade since. The Sedona Red Rockettes Chapter of 99’s (The international Organization of women Pilots) makes its debut in 2 “experimental” aircraft. Amoung the members in uniform, are 2 WWII Wasps, (women’s airforce service pilots). Beverly Wilkinson and Nell Bright, two “491/2” are carrying the banner out front.

Garbage Can Band
Director Deanne Branaman started the Garbage Can Band in January of 2000. The pans were crafted in Trinidad and shipped by boat to the United States, where they are now used at Big Park Community School. The band consists of nine instruments and fourteen members, each of whom play all the instruments! Garbage Can Band was the featured band at the Young Musicians Festival, and some of their performances include Tempe Town Lakes, Good Morning America, Disneyland, plus they are hired for miscellaneous public and private functions. The sounds you hear is not amplified in any way, nor are their any electronics or soundtracks used with the group! What you hear is what you see! MystisChildren’s Project
Mystis is a non-profit organization dedicated to using education as one of the greatest tools for crating positive change. One of our core beliefs is that consciousness begins in the womb. With that understanding, The Children’s Project was created in 1999. It’s an educational program that supports young families through pre-natal education, pregnancy, and birth, helping develop strong parenting skills. This program provides a network of free classes and counseling for parents and children so they can thrive within a “village” community. We invite the participation of the community in making our children out greatest and most valuable investment as our future teachers and leaders.

Yavapai county Sheriff Office
Featured before you are patrol and special-purpose vehicles of the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, being driven in the parade by volunteers.
Many Volunteers have former Law enforcement experience and are past heroes in serving our country. They continue to serve today, assisting Deputies and law enforcement in protecting and serving the citizens of the Verde Valley and Yavapai County.
The Volunteers in Protection program has received international recognition. They act as extra eyes and ears for their communities and assist the Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies in the performance of their duties. Last year V.I.P’s worked 36,645 hours, which translates into $678,027 worth of man-hours donated to the citizens of Yavapai County.
The DARE car is a 1997 Ford Mustang. The GREAT car is a 1999 Chevy Camero. The Volunteers in Protection drive a marked patrol car when on duty. All three vehicles are fully functional emergency vehicles.
Next is the newest addition to the Sheriff’s Office fleet of special purpose vehicles – a 1989 Ford 6000 armored truck. Money Transport Inc., out of Los Angeles California, donated this vehicle to Yavapai County. It has since been modified and designed to carry the Sheriff’s S.W.A.T Team into, and out of, hazardous situations.
The “Mobile Command Post” was put into service in March of 2001. This 28-foot Fleetwood motor home was acquired as a drug seizure and has been converted to a “High Tech” mobile communications center complete with radios, cell phones, satellite phone, computer and fax. The mobile Command Post is available to public service agencies throughout Northern Arizona 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is manned by our volunteers.
Next are members of the Verde Search and Rescue Posse. Various members respond to one or more of the 49 searches and rescues that occurred in Yavapai County in 2002. Verde Search and Rescue members train hard year-round, and are qualified to back country support, swift water support, tracking, ham radio relays and 4x4 searches. Mounted riders have been used to assist in searches and rescues. The Posse highly values community involvement.

The Power Surges! An adult performing dance group from Page, AZ – Lake Powell under the direction of LuLu Cannon. All of the Power Surges! Are Professional women raging from business owners, psychologist and business administrators. They take time out of their busy schedules to use their artistic talents to raise funds for performance art scholarships and support community endeavors.

Northern Arizona Antique Tractor Association
The Northern Arizona Antique Tractor Association is a group who collect and restores old tractors and farm equipment. Some tractors are maintained old and rusty while others are restored to their original condition. Besides performing in parades, these groups put on exhibits at fairs, attend tractor shows and participate in tractor competitions called “tractor pulls”.

Sedona Charter School
Founded in 1995, Sedona Charter School is one of the oldest charter schools in Arizona. This tuition-free public Montessori school challenges each of its students to achieve excellence through an individualized program of instruction. The school’s mission is to inspire a passion for learning, instill a sense of personal responsibility, and cultivate a respect for the environment and involvement in the community.

Sedona Main Street Program began in 1996 and uses the nationally successful Main Street 4-Point Approach, that of Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring. In other words, building consensus with stakeholders, selling the image and promise of Main Street, getting Main Street in top physical shape, and keeping retail space productive while sharpening competitiveness. The mission of Sedona Main Street Program is to maintain and enhance the Sedona Main Street District and its economic future, strengthening it as an asset to our community with a commitment to the preservation of Sedona’s historical charm and unique natural assets.

This is a great opportunity for you to stay for a nice lunch or to shop around, since you are here and already parked in Uptown. You can stay on Jordan or walk along to Hwy. 89A. There are several routes to return to your vehicles: either via the Uptown Mall and Sacajawea to Jordan Road, or by walking up Apple Road to Cedar, or by means of the stairs alongside Wayside Chapel bringing them right onto Schnebly near the parking lot.
